Reverend Naivalu Inducted As Deputy General Secretary

The Methodist Church held an induction service yesterday at the Centenary Church in Suva for the church’s newly appointed Deputy General Secretary, Reverend Iliesa Naivalu.
Reverend Naivalu, who hails from Yalobi Village in Yasawa, was honoured to be entrusted by the people and church for the important leadership role.
“It is not an easy task serving close to 300,000 members. I will continue with what the church stands for and the current leadership’s aim for ship-shaping of the Methodist Church as in to keep the church in order and help prepare the church for the challenges we face in years to come,” he said.
“In regards to the social-ills of society, the church as its prophetic role, is to pray over the land.”
Reverend Naivalu has been a church minister for 37 years and was inducted by the church president, Reverend Epineri Vakadewavosa.
He succeeds the late Reverend Jeremaia Waqainabete who died early this year.
With the school holidays just around the corner, Reverend Naivalu urged parents and guardians to be more vigilant with their children.
“We do sympathise with the issues currently being faced and we the church are here to give people the support they need,” he said.
Meanwhile, Reverend Ili Vunisuwai was re-elected as the General Secretary of the Church.
