High Court Judge Justice Thushara Rajasinghe has dismissed a constitutional redress case filed by former Suva lawyer Shazran Abdul Lateef.

Lateef, 58, appeared before Justice Rajasinghe yesterday.

He had filed a constitutional redress review case against the Attorney-General’s Office, the Office of the Director of Public Prosecution and the Suva Remand Centre.

Representing himself, Lateef told the court that he wished to withdraw the application since he was granted bail by the Magistrates Court in Suva earlier.

He told the court that he had made the application because he was seeking an order of constitutional redress for being unlawfully detained at the Suva Remand Centre.

Justice Rajasinghe granted the withdrawal of the application and dismissed the case accordingly.

Lateef was allegedly found with white substances weighing 0.0063 grams which later tested positive for methamphetamine.

The substantive matter is before the Chief Magistrate Usaia Ratuvili.
