The senior girls of the Harland Hostel’s Gospel School of the Deaf in Samabula will no longer have to walk in the dark to watch television.

In a bid to help with virtual learning and provide entertainment for the seven senior girls at the hostel, Credit Corporation Limited donated a 43-inch TV and DVD player.

The company was also able to persuade Walesi to provide a free sat-box.

Fine Takeai, in charge of the senior girls’ hostel, said the girls were ardent Fiji rugby fans and some enjoyed watching TV.

“They may not be able to speak or hear but they do enjoy watching the games,” she said.

“Mostly for the games, the girls walk to the other hostel, watch the games and then spend the night there. This is indeed good news.”

Credit Corporation general manager lending Jason Chandra said they were pleased to provide the support.

They hope other companies would come forward and look at other areas in which the children of the Harland Hostel could be helped.

Meanwhile, the company raised $5000 last week as part of their Pinktober campaign.
