Plea Deferred For 2 Women Facing Fraud And Dishonesty Charges

Two women, who managed postal agencies for Post Fiji Limited will take their plea for charges of fraud and dishonesty in January, 2020.

Sereseini Seru and Ane Mauleko are charged by the Fiji Independent Commission Against Corruption for allegedly engineering the loss of $98,000 last year.

Seru is facing 11 counts of falsification of documents and one count each of conspiracy to defraud and of general dishonesty.

Mauleko is facing eight counts of falsification of documents and one count each of conspiracy to defraud and of general dishonesty.

The women are alleged to have falsified details on forms, namely, the Application for Electronic Money Order and Application to Receive Money Order which allowed system payments of $98,000 to be made between April and June last year at the Nabua and Nakasi Post Offices.

Mauleko is further alleged to have falsified a remittance between post offices form amounting to $21,000, while Seru falsified four Office Summary Reports.

Resident Magistrate Geethani Widanelage has deferred plea and adjourned the matter to January 20, 2020.

Both accused persons have been granted bail.
