The beautiful and elegant Miss Suva, Jessica Fong, knows there are high expectations as she carries the hope of the capital city in the Miss Fiji pageant, which starts in two days.

Ms Fong was Miss Hibiscus 2018. The Miss Fiji did not take place last year allowing her to bid for the crown.

Coincidentally, the Vodafone Hibiscus Festival 2019 will not take place as well. The 24-year-old student knows the pressure will be immense.

“I have been away from the public eye for almost a year. Although in most parts I have been involved in community work,” she said.

“What has also been good is that I have a good support team, which have been able to share the pressure with.

“With the support of family and friends, I can say I am confident heading into the pageant.”

Ms Fong is also a true believer that the platform she has chosen to advocate against non-communicable diseases would also help her.

“I used this platform in Hibiscus 2018. It has also helped me change my life and habits for my family,” she said.

The Miss Fiji pageant will be held from November 13 to 15 at the Suva Civic Centre.

Seventeen contestants will try and outdo each other to get the nod to represent Fiji at the Miss Pacific Pageant.
