Grace Prasad Shipping Bids For Levuka, Natovi Route
The Taveuni Princess is one of the boats owned by Grace Prasad Shipping and Landlords.

Grace Prasad Shipping and Landlords has applied to the Maritime Safety Authority of Fiji (MSAF) for a Coasting Trade Licence (CTL) from Levuka to Natovi.

This was confirmed by the company’s director, Captain Soniya Lata.

“I would like to get approval and CTL to operate from Levuka main town to Natovi,” she said in the letter addressed to the chief executive officer of MSAF, Captain Philip Hill. She said for the past 60 years, her father, Latchman Prasad, was providing shipping services to people in Taveuni and Vanua Levu.

They intend to provide express service for passengers only (no cargo) along the same route. The company has four vessels operating.

Captain Lata said when they started their express bus and boat service to Labasa and Savusavu in 1980, the fare was $22 ad crossing $10.

“Now, the fares are Labasa $15 VIP and crossing $5,” she said.

“The cost of living is high so it was hard for them to continue.”

She said their departure time from Levuka Town to Natovi would be different from other boats.

“We wish to depart from Levuka at 7.30 every morning, arriving at Natovi at 8.30am. The other boats depart at 11am and arrive in Levuka at 3pm.”

She said there would be no conflict with the timetable of the other shipping companies.
