Jeremaia Raturaga has been awarded the dux prize at Holy Family Secondary School.

The Year 13 student attributed his success to his parents, teachers, his friends but most importantly, to God.

He admitted that he was just a good listener in class and paid attention to the teacher’s explanation which contributed to his success.

“I would recommend students to give their 101 per cent in class, by listening to the teachers and doing classroom work, because that is when teachers are giving a thorough explanation and you can recall that during exams,” he said.

The Bulileka lad hopes to join the University of the South Pacific to pursue his law degree next year.

Overjoyed father Reverend Ulaiasi Raturaga said it was all through God that his son succeeded.

“Whenever I come for parents’ day, teachers would comment on my son’s academic performance that he can do better,” Reverend Raturaga said.

“His teachers have always noticed that he did not study at home, which was in fact true.

“My son depended on classroom work where he gives his 100 per cent attention.”

Jeremaia’s mother, Kalisiana Raturaga said it was a proud moment for them to witness her son’s achievement as they have only one son and three daughters.

She said that nothing was impossible with God.

“I believe that Jeremaia’s achievement was because he was an obedient child. The fruits of our success comes from obedience,” she said.
