Shivek Accomplishes Mission To Be Jai Narayan College Dux

As a Year Nine student Shivek Shandil had set out on a mission to be the top student of Jai Narayan College when he reached Year 13.
This was accomplished in impressive fashion when he was named dux and scooped the best commerce student award and topped the Year 13 by receiving prizes in accounting, economics, English, computer and maths subjects.
A humble Shivek was honoured to see that the rewards for his sacrifices over the years had paid off during the school’s annual prizegiving ceremony yesterday.
“It was something I had been working towards since Year Nine even though I shared the dux award with Kartik Prasad,” Shivek said.
“It was a healthy competition with my peers and it was really challenging.”
Shivek thanked the teachers of Jai Narayan College, who enhanced his knowledge.
“I appreciate my family’s contribution they mean a lot to me,” he said.
His dad, Shashi Mahendra Shandil, who is the principal of Ratu Latianara College, was overwhelmed with his son’s achievement.
Proud mum Seema Shandil, who is also the chief executive officer of the Consumer Council of Fiji, said: “My message to all students is to set a vision and work towards it to achieve what you want.”
