Mohammed Al-Dousary yesterday had his named added onto the shield after he was named dux of Rishikul Sanatan College on Wednesday in Nasinu.

Last year, his older brother Mohammed Ayala was also named college dux.

After the prizegiving ceremony at the school hall, the aspiring doctor said: “I have gone through a lot, learned my lessons along the way and have come out victorious today.

“I guess being the president of the student council has improved me in many ways to be a better person. It gave me the power to do things with class and dignity in mind.”

The 18-year-old claimed other awards like a most outstanding student, leadership award and five subject prizes – Mathematics, English, Biology, Chemistry and Physics.

He thanked the Rishikul family, his parents and his friends who stood by him.

Dad Mohammed Khaiyum, who is a teacher, was overwhelmed with the announcement.

“He worked hard every day to reach where he is today and I knew he would do it,” Mr Khaiyum said.
