A suspect has been taken into Police custody and is being questioned in regard to the case of a Lautoka woman found dead at her home.

Shabina Nisha, 32, was allegedly found covered in blood by a neighbour at her Drasa home on Wednesday morning.

This information was confirmed by Police as investigations were ongoing.

After being at her sister’s place in Naikabula, Lautoka, for some time, the victim had gone home to prepare for her daughter’s 11th birthday to be celebrated on Wednesday.

Her sister, Moreen Nisha, 35, said the victim’s two children Ghazala Nisha, 11, and Mohammed Zahid Zaim, aged eight, were at her residence for one week to spend their school break.

She said her sister had gone to their home on Tuesday to prepare the children’s outfits for the school prizegiving ceremony and the home for Ghazala’s 11th birthday celebration.

“She slept there overnight and we spoke around 10 pm when she told me the house was clean and set for the celebration,” Ms Nisha said.

“She never answered my calls. I rang her husband and he said he was at work.

“I went to their house at 8.30 am Wednesday. Upon reaching there, I asked some neighbours to check on her, they couldn’t go in because the house was locked.

“They looked from the outside and saw that she was in bed and there was blood.

Ms Nisha said the family was waiting for the post-mortem examination result.

The victim is survived by her husband, Mohammed Aiyaz and her two children.
