Dad’s 7s Delight

The inclusion of his three sons in the Fiji Airways Fijian 7s for the Dubai-Cape Town leg of the 2019-20 World Sevens Series will be an unforgettable experience for Sanaila Tabu.
The proud 54-year-old was on already on sevens heaven when he farewelled his sons Sevuloni Mocenacagi, Isoa Tabu and debutant Kavekini Tabu at Nadi International Airport yesterday.
“No one is prouder than our family, we’re blessed. I am a proud father to see my three sons duty-bound to fly the Fiji flag in Dubai next week,” he said.
“Like every dad, they want to their sons to be successful and I’m delighted.
“I thank God for his blessing and I will continue to pray for them
“I used to play rugby but they are much better than me.
“I supported them when they opted to further their rugby career.
“I am proud of their achievements and I will continue to push for them to excel.”
His best achievement was named best player during the Navosa 7s at Vatumali Park decades ago.
“In that tournament, I played against national reps Timoci Wainiqolo, Pita Naruma and Mesake Rasari who had returned from the Hong Kong 7s.”
He and his family are devoted Seventh-Day Adventists.
Like my sons, I don’t smoke or drink alcohol,” he added.
The father of six children, four boys and two girls, is confident the team will put on a positive show at The Sevens.
The last time three brothers played for Fiji was during 1989 Hong Kong Sevens which featured the Raulini brothers, Vesito, Meli and Viliame.
The Dubai 7s kicks off on Friday, 5th December, 2019.
