Maharishi Sanatan College Dux Eyes Career As A Teacher

Maharishi Sanatan College Dux Kaliova Rodanikucu has aspirations to pursue a career as a high school teacher.
The top student from the Votualevu, Nadi-based school revealed his planned career pathway after scooping top marks in History, Geography and Home Economics during the annual prizegiving event.
He summed up his achievement saying there is no short cut to success.
“I feel blessed to hold on to this award. It has been a challenging year,” the 19-year-old said.
“A big hearty thanks to the teachers and parents for their assistance.
“I did prioritise my time for revision, on a daily basis from 4am to 7am. And there is no short cut. I want to become a teacher in the future.”
The college head boy is a native of Nakorovatu, Naitasiri with maternal links to Ucunivanua, Verata, Tailevu.
He is the second eldest of three siblings.
Year 12 student and deputy head girl Salanieta Rositalei from Qalikarua, Matuku, Lau took out the 2019 Student of the Year award.
Rositalei has been in the school since Year 10 after she found out her grades were falling at the previous school.
“I feel happy and proud. I thank my parents.
“I want to become a lawyer but my parents want me to be a lecturer,” she said.
She topped English and Vosavakaviti.
“There is no short cut to a career worth achieving. I studied late at night and early mornings.
“I have no regrets to be in this school and I am looking forward to Year 13, next year,” she said.
