The Naitasiri Provincial Council is concerned that some villagers in Naitasiri do not have proper access to roads.

Senior Assistant Roko Tui Naitasiri, Ratu Valetino Seruitukana said a team from the Ministry of Infrastructure and Forestry was in Naitasiri to conducted a feasibility study on the construction of new roads.

“It is important that road accessibility allows villagers to sell their produce at the markets. At the moment this is an issue,” Ratu Valetino said.

Ratu Valetino also highlighted that the council had proposed that a three-storey building be built in Vunidawa.

The two-day Naitasiri Festival, which ended yesterday, managed to raise $66,000. This will help fund the expenditure of the council’s budget for the coming year.

“Already, yesterday (Thursday) we raised $19,000 for the development fund and $32,000 from the soli ni yasana (Provincial levy),” Ratu Valetino said.
