A 38-year-old Nasilai villager from Rewa is the 15th confirmed case of measles.

According to the Ministry of Health, the Rewa Subdivisional Outbreak Response Team is rapidly responding to notification of this latest case.

The response includes isolation of the case, quarantine and vaccination of contacts and the at-risk community as appropriate.

There are 11 cases from the Serua/Namosi Subdivision (Wailali, Wainadoi, Navunikabi, and Makosoi Deuba), two from Suva (Samabula and Vatuwaqa) and two from Rewa  (Koronivia, Nasilai Village).

The ministry in its latest statement is still stern on people holding or attending large gatherings of people, especially in the Central Division, but also those that bring participants from across the country or overseas.

The TISI Sangam Nursing School in Labasa is the latest to postpone its graduation this week.

The Ministry of Health has already vaccinated about 100,000 people around the country in phase one of the campaign.

The second phase of this immunisation campaign will begin tomorrow.
