Sofitel’s $1.6M Republik Nightclub Opens

Sofitel Fiji Resort and Spa’s new $1.6 million nightclub, Republik, opens today and is set to bring in a new trend.
The opening has been ramped up with head mixologist Clement Cujus introducing new cocktails specially designed for the nightclub.
The resort has also hired a top disc jockey from Sydney to usher in Denarau Island’s only nightclub.
The resort has also partnered with local radio hosts who will act as DJs also.
“This is a new concept on Denarau, “Mr Cujus said.
“I have been training two locals on the new cocktails that we will introduce during the opening today.
New cocktails
The new cocktails will be based on Gin and Vodka with different tastes to each while the bar will also stock on local and overseas spirits and beers.
He said the nightclub has been designed based on some top international concepts so patrons would be enjoying the latest in night partying.
“The big difference from other nightclubs is the drinks, where with the cocktails can be mixed according to one’s taste – whether bitter or sweet.’
The resort’s general manager, Vincent Macquet said Denarau did not have any night life since the only night club then, Planters which was at Sheraton Fiji Resort closed some time ago.
“What we have created is an exclusive nightclub which what you can experience in Europe and the
United States with international DJs,” Mr Macquet said.
“We are not opened only for guests on Denarau but also for the locals.
“There are a lot of people in Fiji who want to party in a great atmosphere in an exclusive nightclubon the high end.”
Mr Macquet said Republik will open at 5pm each day where patrons can come in and enjoy beverage with lounge music until 9pm where the DJ takes over until up to 2am in the morning.
“However today we may open till 3am.”
Those who enter the nightclub will pay a certain fee and be issued with a coupon which they could use to get drinks at the bar.
“So your entry fee is not lost as the coupon you receive can be used by you at the bar,” Mr Macquet Said.
“The reason is to attract the right crowd, locals included, to enjoy themselves and at the same time be protected by a high level of security.”

The resort has also hired a top disc jockey from Sydney to usher in Denarau Island’s only nightclub.
