Two Children Admitted In Hospital After Being Injured In Separate Accidents Over The Weekend

Police continue to record a number of serious road accidents and we are again urging members of the public to be mindful of their safety.

Of particular concern is the safety of children following two serious accidents involving an 8 and 4year old over the weekend.

The first case involved an 8year old girl after she allegedly bumped by a minibus on Saturday afternoon.

The girl was waiting for her aunt with a few others near the Navua bridge when suddenly crossed the road when the alleged incident happened.

She is currently admitted at the CWM Hospital. The driver has been questioned and released pending investigations.

Meanwhile, the other incident also involves a 4-year-old girl residing in Cunnigham who was allegedly bumped by a vehicle driven by a 33-year-old man.

The victim allegedly suddenly crossed the road when the incident happened.

She is also admitted at the CWM Hospital.

In a separate accident in Tavua, a 57year old man from Rabulu in Tavua is admitted to hospital after he was involved in an accident on Saturday.

The victim who was a passenger of a vehicle with three others including the driver was heading towards Tavua town when the driver allegedly lost control of the vehicle causing it to veer off the road and hit a lamp post.

Other passengers including the driver were treated and sent home while the victim is still admitted at the Tavua Hospital.

Meanwhile, a bus driven by a 60year old man is alleged to have collided with a vehicle on Saturday night along Jerusalem Road.

The bus driver allegedly overtook a vehicle and bumped the oncoming car driven by the 32yyear old man.

Three people passengers of the car and the driver sustained injuries in the process and all are admitted at the CWM Hospital.

Police are once again reminding drivers to be vigilant on the road and more importantly to abide by the road rules at all times.

Police are concerned with the high number of accidents reported almost on a daily basis and as children are home for their holidays we are again emphasizing the importance of supervision.
