A family in Mulomulo, Nadi, have lost their home to a fire, not once, but twice.

Ravinesh Prakash, 44, who is an accounts officer, is in disbelief because he had just completed renovation works on the house. All that hard work went up in flames on Friday.

“I just completed a two-month renovation on the house, which cost me more than $5000,” Mr Prakash said.

The last time they lost their home to a fire was in 2006, which was caused by an electrical fault.

“This time around the loss is around $80,000 and I am not sure what transpired,” he said.

The fire leaves five people without a roof over their heads. “But I am glad no one was at home when the fire broke out,” he said.

A joint investigation between the Police and National Fire Authority is now underway to determine the cause of the fire.
