Tuwai To Lead Team Again?
World Rugby’s 2019 7s Player of the Year, Seremaia Tuwai.

Seremaia Tuwai is likely to re-take his captaincy role at this weekend’s Cape Town 7s.

The Fiji Airways Fijian 7s side captain, Paula Dranisinikula, suffered an injury in Dubai, it is understood.

Dranisinikula aggravated a knee issue he picked up last year, although this has yet to be confirmed by the team.

Tuwai, who is the senior most player in the squad, has captained the side before, which makes him a natural choice for the skipper’s role.

The 30-year-old, who was named 2019 World Rugby 7s Player of the Year, will look to lead the side to a second successive victory in Cape Town after a poor start in Dubai.

Meanwhile, Cape Town is not going to be easy.

Following on from their dismal performance in Dubai, they will face Japan again, champions in Dubai South Africa and the ever-improving USA at the Cape Town 7s.

The Gareth Baber-coached side are looking to bounce back after a poor showing in Dubai, where they failed to progress from the group stages.

The side currently sit on 9th place in the World Series standings, with eight points from the first tournament of the season.

The Cape Town 7s is scheduled for December 13 to 15.
