Kriti Panikar was among the few wives to graduate as a nurse from the Sangam Institute of Technology (SIT) College of Nursing and Health Care Education yesterday.

Inspired by her husband, Sunny Deo, the 22-year-old received the Excellence in Nursing Practice award during the graduation at the Labasa Civic Centre.

The second eldest of three siblings from Lajonia, Labasa, said she never thought of becoming a nurse and neither did she expect to receive an award.

“It is challenging to hold different roles and responsibilities together as a daughter, student and a wife,” she said.

“I was able to make it through by the grace of God and I will always be thankful to him.

“The most inspirational person in my life is my husband, who has supported me throughout my three years of journey and I am also thankful to him.

“Being in and out of the hospital during my practical sessions has taught me to help people especially those who are suffering, need care and affection.
