Between The Line: Doctor Talk Of The Town

Private medical practitioners follow a strict code of ethics and practice.
Relationship with patients is governed by the code. BTL understands doctors are not allowed to use their position of influence to engage in activities with their patients or clients that could be deemed inappropriate or unethical or unprofessional and may compromise their integrity.
But in one town, a private doctor, has allegedly been quietly seeing one of his patients at irregular hours.
It has got to a stage that the doctor’s wife has become suspicious. Acting on a tip off, she phoned the boss of a company, to ask if one of their female staff had been seeing her husband in the clinic allegedly free of charge in exchange for sex.
The word has been spread around in the business community, warning female workers to be aware of this private doctor. Sometimes the clinic is closed during the day when it should be open.
The opening hours notice is clearly visible on the door. This may be a case for the Fiji Medical Association to look at to see whether there has been a breach of its code.
