If you are a Fijian aged between 18 and 35 you have the wonderful opportunity to be part of the Prime Minister’s National Youth Awards.

The awards was launched yesterday at Suvavou House, Suva, by the Minister for Trade, Tourism, Local Government, Housing and Community Development, Premila Kumar.

The Prime Minister’s National Youth Awards has 10 categories – Achievements in Sports, Primary Industries, Entrepreneurship, Community Champion, Music and Dance, Fashion, Arts and Creativity, Eco-Champion, Inspirational Leadership, Digital Innovator and Youth of the Year.

“Being a young nation, with 70 per cent of the population below the age of 40 years – it is our youth who will be the leaders of tomorrow. It is the youth who will carry forward a modern Fiji,” said Ms Kumar.

“So, it is our responsibility to ensure that they are able to live their dreams and be recognised for achieving what is also best for the nation.

“The Fijian Government believes in the youth, and this is why we have put in place initiatives to encourage young Fijians into business. One such initiative is the Young Entrepreneurship Scheme or YES.”

Application forms are available www.online youthawards.gov.fj. Applications are now open until March 31, 2020.

A person can either nominate themselves or anyone can nominate a young Fijian eligible for any of the categories.
