Coaches Gareth Baber and Saiasi Fuli know their players must be spot on in the third tournament of the 2019-20 World Sevens Series in Hamilton next month.

It’s survival of the fittest, a do-or-die after World Rugby ruled there would be no Cup quarter-finals which means the Fiji Airways Fijian 7s and Fijiana teams must win all their pool games to progress.

Baber’s men failed to reach the Cup quarters in Dubai and lost in the semifinal in Cape Town and must motor into overdrive with accuracy and precision at FMG Stadium.

Indiscipline haunts our performance with our players getting 11 yellow cards in two tournaments and our men need to play smart and consider every game as a final.

Fuli said the women will have to put on more effort to achieve their goals.

“Every game is a final and without hard work, there is no way you can achieve your goal,” he said.

“There are signs of improvement in Dubai and Cape Town but we cannot rest on that note but to continue the hard work.”

The Fijiana 7s side will face hosts New Zealand, England and China in Pool A.

A win for our women’s 7s team could see them top their pool and qualify directly for the Cup semifinals.

Fijiana proved they can beat the Black Ferns in a close encounter (12-10) in Cape Town last weekend.

The Hamilton 7s is scheduled for January 25-26.
