Former Ghana national coach Goran Stevanovic, who wanted to coach the Fiji national football team, wants US$40,000 (F$86,800) a month for him and his coaching staff.

This was revealed by Fiji Football Association president Rajesh Patel during the Fiji FA Board of Control and Fiji FA Council meetings at the Tanoa International Hotel in Nadi yesterday.

SUNSports earlier highlighted that Stevanovic was the prime target to replace Frenchman Christophe Gamel’s departure.

He confirmed eight applicants have been shortlisted.

“Myself, the technical director and the acting national team director will finalise who will we shortlisted for the interview,” he said.

“We will have to consider our financial position. Our technical director spoke to Stevanovic who wanted to come with four staff and asking US$40,000 per month.”

Patel added the Fiji National Sports Commission usually pays for the national coach.

Furthermore, Patel added they will be getting a full time national futsal coach.

Plans are also in place to grow beach football in the country.

Patel added he spoke to the food and beverage manager at the Hilton Hotel who is an ardent Ajax fan in Netherlands to kick off a plan.

“We’ve already had preliminary talks with him,” Patel said.
