New US Ambassador To Fiji, Cella Presents His Credentials

Joseph James Cella is new United States of America Ambassador to Fiji.
He presented his credentials to the President, Major General Ret’d Jioji Konrote at the State House in Suva yesterday.
Mr Cella is also a representative of the US government in Kiribati, Nauru, Tonga and Tuvalu.
In his press briefing yesterday, Mr Cella said he was adamant in maintaining active and regular contact with top officials in each country and engaging closely with regional and international intergovernmental organisation.
He said his key goals would be furthering cultivation and showcasing of democratic free market principles rooted in each country’s right to choose its own sovereign course.
“Fostering vibrant economies through free market principles rooted in each country’s right to choose its own sovereign course; fostering vibrate economies through free fair and reciprocal trade and expansion of tourism,” Mr Cella said.
“Building and expanding on the successes of the past, by working with the interagency of our government that advocate the interests of businesses, scholars, tourist and using people to people diplomacy through a variety of cultural and educational exchanges, including the full-bright scholarship and reminding our allies of our fidelity to time-honored principles.”
He and his wife, Kristen, have seven children.
