Appana: No Title For Singh

The Boxing Commission of Fiji (BCF) will strip Sebastian Singh’s welterweight title after the boxer failed to meet weight requirements in his five previous fights.
According to BCF chairman, Subhash Appana, the decision has nothing to do with Singh being arrested on Thursday for allegedly assaulting his wife.
“We are going to do it because of other reasons. The announcement has to be done before this year ends. I’ve got the letter, it’s ready,” he said.
Appana said that Singh got into an altercation with match officials before his last fight with Humzah Khalid, which ended in defeat for the Suva boxer last month.
SUNsports could not get a response from Singh on this allegation as he is still in custody at the Totogo Police Station.
Singh is yet to be charged by Police for the allegations.
Singh was first overweight in his fight against New Zealand’s Bowyn Morgan, which was an undercard to the Joseph Parker vs Alexander Flores heavyweight clash.
Singh also came in overweight against Rakuro Daunivanua, Siliveni Nawai, Franco Fraser and Khalid.
“This boxer has not defended his title for a very long time. In the last programme, he couldn’t make the weight and so we will strip off the title.
“Actually the decision has been made but we will make an announcement so people know why we are suspending him.”
