NRL Star Sivo Granted Bail

Parramatta Eels and Fiji Bati winger Maika Sivo, charged with one count of indecent assault, was granted $500 bail by the Nadi Magistrate’s Court yesterday.
Sivo is alleged to have indecently assaulted a woman on December 26 at a popular resort in Nadi.
Sivo was represented by Lautoka lawyer Mosese Naivalu, while Sergeant Ana Matanawai appeared for the state.
Naivalu had requested for bail on the grounds that Sivo was due back in Sydney this week for pre-season training with the Eels.
However, Magistrate Peni Dalituicama placed a stop departure on the NRL star, saying: “No one is special before the law.”
Sergeant Matanawai also informed the court that there was an amendment made to the charge to reflect ‘indecent assault’ and ‘not indecent annoyance.’
She told the court that the disclosures were served and that the accused had no previous convictions.
The matter has been adjourned on the January 7, 2020 at the Nadi Magistrate’s Court.
