Court Grants Bail For Navua Bus Driver

The bus driver, who allegedly bumped a five-year-old girl in Navua while driving, has been granted bail of $1000 with two sureties bail bond of $1000 each.

Peni Ketewai Nayacalevu, 33, appeared before Magistrate Joseph Daurewa at the Magistrates Court in Suva yesterday, charged with one count of dangerous driving occasioning death.

Nayacalevu was ordered to reside at his residential address in Serua and not to change his address without the leave of the court.

He was also ordered to report to the Navua Police Station every Wednesday and Saturday between 6am and 6pm, and not to interfere with the prosecution witnesses.

The matter was adjourned for mention at the Magistrates Court in Navua on January 31.

It is alleged that on December 23, 2019, at Navua, Nayacalevu drove a motor vehicle registration number DA 580 on Tokotoko Road, Navua, in a manner which was dangerous to the public having regard to all the circumstances of the case involved in an impact and caused the death of Eleni Marama.
