The Boxing Commission of Fiji has stripped the middleweight title from Sebastian Singh and suspended him as a boxer.

This was confirmed in a letter send to Singh on the December by BCF chairman Subhash Appana.

Appana said BCF made the decision after complaints raised by the promoters, boxing fans, officials and the media.

In the letter, Appana said: “Lack of respect for rules and authority. This had been seen in the past as a habit, but was particularly pronounced during the weigh-in on November 29. What transpired that day (the words spoken, the arrogant disrespect of fight officials, the disdainful dismissal of rules, etc.) must not be allowed to be repeated.

“Your continued inability to make the weight agreed-to on fight contracts; this also shows a certain attitude that is of acute concern to BCF. Your failure to defend your Fiji middleweight title both at scheduled times as well as within the stipulated time frame.

Singh was given a chance to respond to the allegations on December 12. But he failed to meet the deadline set for December 19.

“The boxer was given one week to respond.

“We are left with few options but to strip him off of the middleweight title and he is requested to return it as soon as soon possible,” Appana said

“He is on indefinite suspension from boxing until such time as BCF sees fit to renew his registration as a boxer.”
