The Boxing Commission of Fiji will make a decision on suspended former promoter Simon Naushad’s application to make a comeback.

BCF chairman Subhash Appana said that Naushad, the co-founder of the Canada Fiji Southern Boxing Promotions, had written to the board, expressing his interest to make a comeback as a promoter.

“I am aware of his intention, he has written an email, expressing his interest. I am also aware that he was suspended under the previous board,” Appana said.

“The sport needs a lot of vibrant and energy but before we grant an endorsement. The board has to sit down and discuss on his fate.”

Naushad was requested to write to the board regarding his side of the story to the chairman before the board decides his fate.

He was suspended by the previous board under the chairmanship of Bulutani Mataitawakilai two years ago for some alleged misconduct.

In the Last quarter of last year, Naushad was appointed as World Boxing Foundation’s Asia Pacific matchmaker and co-ordinator.

“That has nothing to do with the BCF as it is appointed by the WBF,” said Appana.

When Naushad was approached yesterday he said that his love for the sport is yet to die.

“I am have been out for two years and looking forward to promote in Fiji,” Naushad said.

He has indicated that he has lined up two tentative dates to host programmes this year, subject to the endorsement from BCF.
