A High Court date has been set for a 31-year-old man who allegedly bit his de facto partner’s ears.

Yavala Baravilala appeared in the Magistrates Court in Suva before Magistrate Joseph Daurewa.

He is charged with four counts of act with intent to cause grievous harm and one of resisting arrest.

The alleged incident occurred on January 5, at Sukanaivalu Road in Nabua, Suva.

It is alleged an argument broke out between the accused and the complainant who were believed to be intoxicated and the man allegedly bit the complainant’s ears.

The Police prosecutor served full phase disclosures and told the court the accused had three other pending matters in court.

The prosecutor also objected to bail on the grounds that the offence was serious in nature.

Baravilala opted for legal representation from the Legal Aid Commission.

Magistrate Daurewa transferred the matter to the High Court in Suva to be called on January 22.

Baravilala has been remanded in custody.
