Hundreds gathered at Delainabua to grieve and farewell the life of Apete Bale Piteni, 48, who was allegedly murdered two weeks ago.

Families at the funeral service were visibly heartbroken. Most could not hold back their tears.

Talaite Togaloa, a family relative, spoke highly of Ms Bale.

“Bale was kind-hearted, loving and loved her family so much,” Ms Togaloa said.

“She would put others before her. Her four children were her strength, and she had a beautiful soul.”

She said the families would rally behind her children during this difficult time.

Ms Bale moved to Suva from Lau to put her children in school.

Reverend Major Ilaitia Tuwere, who spoke during the service, emphasised the importance to have a prayerful life.

“When and if you find yourselves in some sort of trouble, do not bottle it up, in fact, be open about it with your families,” Rev Tuwere said.

He also challenged the men present to not take matters into their own hands.

“You have no right to overpower or man handle women. You are a coward when you do so.”

Ms Bale was allegedly murdered by her husband at their home in Kinoya after a heated argument.
