The James Gordon-captained Coastline Roos aims to play in the McDonald’s Coral Coast 7s at Lawaqa Park in Sigatoka next week.

In order to achieve that, the side needs to win the Basic Homes-sponsored Tabadamu 7s at Prince Charles Park in Nadi on Saturday.

Manager Suliasi Cakautabu said: “The boys have been preparing very well.”

The side last featured at the Coral Coast 7s in 2016

“We had our first 7s tournament in Nadroga 7s few weeks ago. We tried to qualify for the Coral Coast International 7s but we missed out in the main elimination so we are back to try out in the Tabadamu 7s,” he said.

Cakautabu said the only concern is the switch from league to sevens.

“All the boys have been playing rugby league last season and it will be very hard to switch from league to seven.

“Majority of the boys play rugby league. We just have to give big hits out there.”

He added 20 of the players played rugby league in the lower divisions in Australia.

The side trained at Lawaqa Park, Sigatoka yesterday.
