Karan Acting Chairman Of Fijian Holdings Ltd
Yogesh Karan has been appointed as the acting Chairman of Fijian Holdings Limited (FHL) Group.
Mr Karan will hold this position until a new Chair of FHL Group is appointed.
The Permanent Secretary in the Office of Prime Minister has served in many boards and Government Ministries. FHL Board welcomes the appointment of Mr Karan.
The previous chairman Adrian Sofield had resigned past Friday.
Meanwhile, Sanjit Patel and Ratu Aisea Waka Vosailagi resigned as directors of FHL past week. Ratu Aisea resigned because of health reasons a few weeks before the alleged sexual harassment case against the then FHL Group chief executive officer Nouzab Fareed was brought to light in the media.
On December 21, Mr Fareed resigned following allegations of sexual harassment from two women.
He has denied the allegations and said he resigned in the interest of FHL and so he could fight the allegations. Mr Fareed has also resigned from the Fiji Commerce and Employers Federation, where he was an Executive Director.
According to Police, the files on Mr Fareed were sent to the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions for a decision on whether charges could be laid.
The Director of Public Prosecutions Christopher Pryde said it took 21 days for his office to vet files before he was expected to make a decision a week after.
RB Patel
Meanwhile a subsidiary of FHL, R.B Patel Group Limited also announced the resignations of Mr Fareed and chairman Ratu Aisea from the board of directors of the company.
Both directors were nominees of FHL, the ultimate parent company of RB Patel Group Ltd.
Mr Fareed was appointed to the R.B Patel board in March 2011 and Ratu Aisea in March 2019.
The board would like to take this opportunity to thank both directors for their services to the company and all the company’s shareholders.The company’s board now consists of Surendra Patel, Michael Nacola, Serean Matakibau and Kavin Rathod.
The appointment of a chairman and director will be announced by the Board in due course.
