Subrail Park is open to the public if needed for special events.

This was confirmed by Special Administrator of Labasa and Savusavu Town Council Ami Kohli.

He said any organisation planning to host special events or tournaments could contact Labasa Town Council for bookings.

However, he said the pavilion was not available because it was not safe according to Occupation Health and Safety (OHS).

“If people want to sit and watch the tournament they can use the embankment,” he said.

“We have plans to call some engineers to have a look and see if we can carry out some remedial work and get a clearance certificate.

“Once this is done we can allow people to use the pavilion.”

Football:

Fiji Football Association competition manager Amitesh Pal said they won’t have the Champion Versus Champion (CVC) tournament in Labasa because the ground was not available.

“As for the 2020 Premier League competition after inspection of the park we will decide whether to have matches in Labasa or not,” Mr Pal said.

“We have drawn out the league schedule and it will kick off on February 1.”
