Ledua Tikotani.

A 29-year-old serving prisoner had 12 months added to his current sentence after he was convicted for harbouring an escapee.

Ledua Tikotani committed the offence while he was out on bail for another offence where he was earlier convicted and sentenced to jail with a term of two years and two months for aggravated burglary and theft.

He appeared yesterday before Jioji Boseiwaqa, convicted of one count of harbouring a prisoner, Suliasi Rokosuka. Rokosuka had escaped from lawful custody, which led to Tikotani committing the offence by harbouring him.

The offence took place on November 28, 2018, at Ryland Place in Vatuwaqa.

Tikotani had pleaded guilty to the offence on his own free will.

He was ordered to serve the imprisonment term consecutive to his current sentence.

He has 28 days to appeal to the High Court in Suva.
