Ratepayers: Residents Partly To Blame For Rubbish Pile Up

Residents of Nasinu should also shoulder the blame for the piling of litter on the roadside of streets in the municipality.
According to concerned ratepayers it has been observed that even after the garbage has been collected some careless residents have the habit of throwing rubbish out onto the streets.
The Nasinu Town Council had collected the rubbish pile-ups in the Narere and Caubati areas.
Caubati resident Rajnesh Prasad said the council had started the rubbish collection last Saturday.

He said that after the garbage was collected by the council workers there were a number of residents who still had the habit of dumping rubbish by the road.
“It is mainly residents who are doing wrong and on the other hand they complain that the council is not doing its duty,” Mr Prasad said
“I believe the rubbish collection was done after weeks, but at times members of the public should also take responsibilities.”
Mr Prasad said the fault was with both sides – the council and the residents.
Narere resident Archana Ram said it was a relief to see the council workers start its garbage collection.
“Even though the clean-up has been done, some people are not stopping themselves from littering,” she said.
Nasinu Town Council, in its four weeks of general clean-up drive, has successfully completed the first week of its campaign.
The council will continue to conduct garbage collection in other areas in Nasinu over the coming weeks.
