Police Sign MOU With Online Safety Commission

The MOU has now given the power and the authority to the Force to proceed with the prosecution of any case that has been referred to by the Online Safety Commission under the Online Safety Act 2018.

Police Sign MOU With Online Safety Commission
The signing were held between the Commissioner of the Online Safety Commission-Anne Dunn and the Acting Commissioner of Police Rusiate Tudravu.

The Fiji Police Force will work in collaboration with the Online Safety Commission following the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding this morning.

The MOU has now given the power and the authority to the Force to proceed with the prosecution of any case that has been referred to by the Online Safety Commission under the Online Safety Act 2018.

The signing were held between the Commissioner of the Online Safety Commission-Anne Dunn and the Acting Commissioner of Police Rusiate Tudravu.

The Acting Commissioner of Police Rusiate Tudravu while guaranteed the support of the organization had also mentioned that the Commissioner’s endorsement had already exists.

“We will be with you in regards to the execution of what is required of us and to implement it on the ground, our Director Criminal Investigation Department will be our point of contact in terms of investigation”

According to the Online Safety Commission Commissioner the Act can now be executed and implemented.

“Two crimes that are listed under the Online Safety Act are the Online Bullying and the Abuse [emotionally harmed or distressed in any way that has been caused by electronic communication] and the second one is the Sharing of Images and videos”.

Dunn acknowledges the support provided by the Force that was sealed through the MOU this morning.
