Bus services and businesses in Labasa have now closed following advisories amidst the approaching Tropical Cyclone Tino.
TC Tino was located 300 kilometres from Vanua Levu early morning and expected to make landfall this evening at six.
Labasa Chamber of Commerce and Industries president, Satish Kumar said businesses were taking precaution.
“We have to be prepared and hope that nothing happens to our members, properties and the community as a whole,” he said.
He advised all the business communities to move goods to higher level so it is safe from the flood.
The bus operations in the Labasa ceased operations around 2pm.
Dalip Chand and Son Co Limited general manager Kunal Chand said in an email from that Land Transport Authority and the Commissioner’s Office directed them to cease operations.
This was done for public safety.
