The Ministry of Education wishes to advise the public that due to the current weather condition affecting the Fiji group, and with its forecasted track to directly impact the northern division, that all schools in the Eastern Division were closed at noon today, Friday 17th January, 2020.

In cases where it is too late to send boarding students home due to the adverse weather, it would be advisable to keep the students at the school boarding facilities.

This is a precautionary measure that the Ministry is taking to ensure that the lives of school children and staff are safe during this time. Parents and guardians are kindly advised to make the necessary arrangements.

For parents and guardians of children attending schools in the remaining two divisions, you are kindly requested to treat the safety of your children as paramount and refrain from sending them to school if you feel their safety will be compromised.
