A TROPICAL CYCLONE WARNING is in force for Rotuma, Vanua Levu, Taveuni and the nearby islands, Yasawa, Lau and Lomaiviti Group and the Eastern Half of Viti Levu.

Tropical Cyclone Tino Forms

1. TROPICAL CYCLONE TINO CENTRE 985 HPA WAS LOCATED NEAR 13.4S 171.1E OR ABOUT 100KM SOUTH OF ROTUMA AND ABOUT 420 KM NORTHWEST OF LABASA AT 3AM TODAY,

2. CLOSE TO ITS CENTRE THE CYCLONE IS EXPECTED TO HAVE AVERAGE WINDS OF UPTO 75 KM/HR WITH MOMENTARY GUSTS TO 100KM/HR,

3. TINO IS MOVING SOUTH-SOUTHEAST AT ABOUT 20 KM/HR.

4.ON THIS FORECAST TRACK THE CYCLONE CENTRE IS EXPECTED TO BE LOCATED ABOUT 40KM NORTH OF LABASA OR 210KM NORTHWEST OF VANUA BALAVU AT 3PM TODAY( this the 12 hours forecast position for Tino)

5. AND ABOUT 70 KM SOUTHEAST OF LAKEBA OR 215KM NORTH OF ONO-I-LAU AT 3AM TOMORROW(this is the 24hrs forecast position for Tino)

Whilst the centre of TINO is expected to move over the Eastern part of Vanua Levu later today, the associated Heavy rain and associated Strong/Gale force winds will start to be experienced several hours before the centre moves closer.

In anticipation of TC Tino moving closer:
*A TROPICAL CYCLONE WARNING is in force for Rotuma, Vanua Levu, Taveuni and the nearby islands, Yasawa, Lau and Lomaiviti Group and the Eastern Half of Viti Levu,

* A TROPICAL CYCLONE ALERT remains in force for the rest of Fiji,

* A HEAVY RAIN WARNING REMAINS in force for the whole of Fiji.
