A Labasa family, who felt the wrath of Tropical Cyclone Sarai last month, feared the impact of Tropical Cyclone Tino.

Pravin Kumar of Tabia said his family incurred more than $20,000 in costs from the damages to their home wrought by Cyclone Sarai on December 28.

The family was among the 11 households in the Northern Division who were victims of TC Sarai.

“Three-quarters of the rooftop of their five-bedroom house was blown away, two garages, one farmhouse and the veranda of the house was destroyed by strong winds,” Mr Kumar said.

“We have placed temporary materials on top of the house as a Fiji Republic of Military Forces Officer promised us that they will help rebuild our house.

“Till then we are waiting.” The 55-year-old father of three children said he was now losing hope for any forthcoming assistance.

“Definitely in this TC Tino our house will be again damaged,” he said.

“By 3 pm yesterday we felt the strong wind and heavy rain. I don’t know what to do.

“I had spent all the money to get my heart surgery done and from sugarcane farming, I have no savings.”

Anyone who is willing to assist the family can contact them on 9698114.
