Olympian Kitione Taliga is waiting hopefully for Fiji Airways Fijian 7s head coach Gareth Baber call him up to join the national 7s training squad.

Taliga played for the Ben Ryan-coached national 7s team that won the gold medal at the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

The Dratabu, Nadi native played an instrumental role to help Police beat Ratu Filise 17-14 in the Cup final of the McDonald’s Fiji Coral Coast Sevens at Lawaqa Park, Sigatoka yesterday.

“I’m ready to join the sevens team if being called,” Taliga said.

“I have done some hard yards and with the Olympics coming up. I want to be part of that history again.”

Taliga said their win was only possible through team work.

RATU FILISE 2 AIM HIGH

Gracious in defeat, Ratu Filise’s Meli Kundrau and Ifereimi Tovilevi who respectively won the Jona Lomu Medal and the Campese -Serevi medal have made a pledge to represent Fiji in the future.

The Namatakula duo played their hearts out for the Ratu Filise in an emphatic battle against Police in the Cup final.

Kunadrau, 20 and Tovilevu, 19 made their debut for the senior team after being groomed by coach, Etika Tovilevu.

“This is a beginning of a long rugby journey,” Kunadrau said.

“It is great to be acknowledged for our talents. With the ultimate goal to represent the country.”

Tovilevu said he wants to represent the Fijian 7s team but he needs to start from somewhere.

“The Coral Coast 7s has given me that start,” he added.
