Former Fiji Airways Fijian 7s team captain Kalione Nasoko is expected to make a return at the Hong Kong and Singapore leg of the World 7s Series.

Head coach Gareth Baber is hoping Nasoko recovers in time to train with the squad weeks before the leg begins in April.

“He (Nasoko) had an ACL operation. Don’t forget that and ACL (anterior cruciate ligament) operation finishes people’s careers,” Baber said.

“We have a duty of care and responsibility to manage his welfare not only for his involvement with Fiji 7s but his future as a rugby player and future to have the quality of life.”

Nasoko has been training with the team in camp but is not in a physical condition to make his return just yet.

“We have good physio to take the care that he needs. He has a huge amount of work to do,” Baber said.

“Because it is my intention to get him back into selection possibly Hong Kong and Singapore,” he said.

“If he is not ready for that then will do it when we feel and deem it for him to come back.”

Nasoko was present to farewell the team at the Nadi International Airport.

He said he is recovering and wished the boys all the best.
