The team that wins the 2020 Vodafone Premier League receives $20,000.

This was after Vodafone Fiji increased its sponsorship to $183,000 during the launch at Tappoo City, Lautoka yesterday.

Vodafone territory executive manager Kushwant Kishor said they were proud to launch the country’s Premier competition competed by top eight teams.

Kishor said the increase in sponsorship will boost the sport in the country.

“Vodafone is committed to the development of the football in the country,” he said.

“So much so, that we put pen to paper again last year January and re-committed with Fiji FA for another further five-years. Vodafone’s passion for the vanua remains firm as we understand the capacity building the game has in the community, school as well as business sector.”

Fiji FA president Rajesh Patel welcomed the increase in sponsorship.

Patel said they are all set to kick-off the 2020 VPL and will try to complete the season without any delay.

“There are commitments this year for our national teams beginning in March so we will try to avoid as much postponement as possible.”

He welcomed Navua back into the VPL top flight and predicts the team from the rice farming town to raise a few eyebrows.

“We welcome back Navua. They have worked hard to come on board and hope they will create a few upsets.”
