In accordance with the Fiji National Provident Fund (FNPF) Act 2011, the Minister for Economy, Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum has appointed new Directors to the FNPF Board.

The FNPF is delighted to welcome Daksesh Patel and Mukhtar Ali, and also returning to the FNPF Board is Sanjay Kaba.

These appointments follow the retirement of Ajith Kodagoda and Tevita Kuruvakadua, who have served two consecutive terms – a limitation under the FNPF Act.

Mr Patel and Mr Ali are highly regarded and respected professionals who no doubt will help the Fund position itself to take maximum advantage of continued growth in all areas of its business and ensure sustainability of the FNPF members’ hard earned retirement savings.

Both individuals bring with them a wealth of experience in the areas of investment, manufacturing and banking.

Mr Kaba is an engineer and has extensive experience in project management and development.

The appointment of Mr Patel and Mr Kaba is effective from January 1, 2020 for a period of four years.

Mr Patel takes on the leadership role from Mr Kodagoda as Board Chairman from January 24, 2020.

Mr Ali’s appointment is effective from January 24, 2020.

About Mr Patel

Daksesh Patel – is the Chief Executive Officer of Infrabuild, Australia.

He has extensive leadership experience in manufacturing, retail and governance.

He is also the current Chairman of Energy Fiji Limited.

He pursued his graduate and post graduate qualifications from Australia and New Zealand.

Whilst with the family business Vinod Patel Group, Mr Patel was instrumental in establishing the group’s three manufacturing businesses and he played a pivotal leadership role in corporate transformation, governance and business disruption.

He has over two decades of leadership experience.

About Mr Ali

Mukhtar Ali – is the Chief Operating Officer of the Community Bank of the Bay in Oakland, California. He is a seasoned community banking professional with 35 years’ experience – 12 of which were spent in executive leadership roles.

He was also the President and Chief Executive Officer of the Mission National Bank in San Francisco.

He is an expert in enhancing profitability, developing strategic lending initiatives and has vast knowledge in banking regulations, having implemented necessary controls for compliance purposes and to ensure proper risk management practices.

About Mr Kaba

Sanjay Kaba – is the Managing Director, Principal Structural Engineer and Projects Director at the Houng Lee Jacob Kaba Limited.

He has worked as project and Design Engineer in an Oil and Engineering firm.

Mr Kaba has extensive experience as a Project Development Manager, Project Management and Planning, Structural Engineering.

He is a member of the Australian Institute of Engineers and Member of Fiji Institute of Engineers.

He holds a Bachelor of Engineering (Civil) degree from the University of Canterbury in New Zealand.
