By now, Fijians already know that SODELPA, like their Opposition partner, National Federation Party, are hypocrites.

Time and time again, they have said one thing and done another, changing their minds about what they support, for political reasons.

Use of religion

Perhaps the lowest depth that SODELPA, in particular, sink to, is the use of religion to mislead Fijians.

SODELPA have always used Christianity in the sickest way possible. They will quote specific Bible verses and scripture but completely leave out other relevant ones.

Before I continue, let me point out that the Bible expressly forbids mixing religion and politics.

SODELPA president

In this regard, one of the biggest hypocrites is the SODELPA president, Ro Filipe Tuisawau, who uses religion shamelessly like a weapon without any real adherence to Christian beliefs and principles himself.

Recently, Ro Filipe spoke about a fashion show video on Facebook where members of the LGBTQ community were walking the runway.

He stated that laws on decency must be reviewed, all of society was going haywire and that order must be returned, come 2022, and that these heathens must be eradicated.

Now, Ro Filipe has every right to watch members of the LGBTQ community in as many videos as he wants and to have his own opinions on this matter.

However, he has shown Fijians that he is a hypocrite.

Bibile teachings

Mathew, Chapter 7, Verses 1-2 says “Judge not, that ye be not judged.”

“For with what judgment ye judge, ye shall be judged; and with what measure he mete, it shall be measured to you again.” (King James Version).

SODELPA seem to have forgotten that Jesus Christ is against judging anyone for anything and in their pursuit of gaining power at all costs, they have led their supporters away from the true spirit of Christianity.

This is very important for us to remember.

You cannot pick and choose which part of Christianity to follow, You have to follow all the teachings. Leave the judging to God and be a good person yourself.

LGBTQ SODELPA members

Perhaps, Ro Filipe should be mindful of the many LGBTQ SODELPA members and supporters BEFORE making such comments.

Peter Waqavonovono is the former SODELPA youth leader and is openly gay. He is still a prominent SODELPA figure.

In fact, SODELPA have an LGBTIQ support base, including active members of the party and youth wing.

This further highlights Ro Filipe’s hypocrisy as he attacks the LGBTIQ community and ignores his own house.

Ironically it’s the current Government which decriminalised and stopped the discrimination against the LGBTIQ community, through the 2013 Fijian Constitution.

There is, of course, another thing that should be of great concern to Fijians.

Expat society

There is an eerie and significant silence from members of Fiji’s Expat society who are usually the first to criticise the Government over nothing.

The UN Human Rights office, for example, has remained completely silent despite years of attacks by SODELPA against human beings based on their ethnicity, gender and sexual orientation.

The EU is quick to sponsor events to talk about fake news run by NGOs which have former Opposition party candidates in coordinating positions while completely ignoring the tirade of fake news attacks against the Government.

This leads to it becoming a political issue instead of an attempt to fix the problem.

But when it comes to attacks like these by SODELPA, the toothless expat community will choose to remain silent.

It’s time now for Fijians of all backgrounds to reject unChristian ideologies.

SODELPA are leading people away from Christianity, they are leading people away from Jesus Christ and away from the Holy Spirit.

In SODELPA’s Fiji, Christianity is replaced by a new religion that removes important parts of Christianity and instead chooses to promote hate for their neighbours, hate for fellow human beings.

In fact, the religious institutions should be the first to cast SODELPA’s teachings out.
