Year 13 twin sisters were named as head prefects during an induction ceremony at Gospel High School yesterday.

Their appointment was a source of joy and pride for the whole family.

Head girl Emali Bukalidi said her induction was possible with God’s blessing.

“My family and teachers have supported me a lot. I also like to thank my late grandfather who always encouraged me to be a leader,” Emali said.

Her aim is to set good examples to junior students and to look after them.

“In this school, girls get a lot of abusive words from boys so I will protect them from the verbal abuse they night encounter,” Emali said.

She aims to be an accountant and to be in Government.

“If I become a politician, I would like to stand for women’s and children’s rights because they are vulnerable in our society,” Ms Bukalidi said.

Twin sister Miriama Bukalidi was named deputy head girl. She is all geared up to lead some 800 students of Gospel High School.

“Emali is my inspiration and I am blessed to have my sister as a school Head girl,” she said.

Meanwhile, head boy, Mesulame Ratumaiyale said his parents were his role model and he was happy to follow their footsteps.

“My mother and father were head prefects during their time in college and they have imparted good values and virtues to me and motivated me to work hard in school,” he said.

“It is a tough task that will only make me stronger.”
