Missing At Wainikavou River: Search For Father And Daughter Continues
Fiji Police Search and Response Unit continue searching for the missing School teacher Napolioni Kaitavu and 10-year-old Aliti at the Wainikavou river in Serua.

Search for the father and daughter who were swept away by strong currents while trying to cross the Wainikavou River on January 16 is still continuing.

The Fiji Police Force have confirmed that no new leads have been identified in the search for Nuku Secondary School teacher Napolioni Kaitavu and 10-year-old Aliti.

“The Police Search and Response Unit are continuing their search for the missing teacher and his daughter at the Wainikavou creek in Serua,” Police spokesperson Savaira Tabua said.

“Our team is working round-the-clock to find new leads that could assist us with the search.

“We are not calling off the search with hopes that we would make a discovery soon.”

Nuku Secondary School principal Junior Hereniko said villagers had been helping the Police with the search since the day of the incident and they intended to continue.

“Since the incident, villagers have helped Police and the family of the missing two search in the most likely places the two would have been swept away in,” Mr Hereniko said.

“We are hoping for the best and all we can do now is to lend a hand and help the affected family during this tough time.”
