Indiscipline proved costly for the Fiji Airways Fijiana 7s team as they were beaten 17-12 by China in their second pool game at the New Zealand Sevens in Hamilton yesterday.

Fijiana forward Rowela Radiniyavuni was red carded in the 4th minute of the first half after she punched a Chinese player while trying to contest for the ball.

The loss marred Fiji’s chances of a Cup semi-final after they had beaten England 26-19 in their pool opener.

Trailing China 5-0, the Fijiana side fought hard to level the scores 5-5- after captain, Raijieli Daveua scored right at halftime.

Fuli reminded the players to focus on the game.

“It’s true we are one player down please work hard for each other,” he said.

“Double up your effort. Be smart in what you do in the field this half.”

This sparked the Fijians as they took a 12-5 lead from a Lavenia Tinai try but the Chinese fought back to score two tries and grab a late win.
