A popular dolphin watching resort on the north coast of Viti Levu is up for sale.

Takalana Bay Resort located along the Tailevu coast of Dawasamu, is an eco resort that gained fame for dolphin watching.

Guests of the resort travel in an open boat to Moon Reef where they observe in silence the graceful yet playful Spinner Dolphins that frolick in the cool calm waters.

Real estate agent Sunaina Singh said the resort is on the market for US$2.7million (FJ$5.42million) because the owner, an elderly American, had wanted to retire from the business.

She said the owner was eager to sell and had reduced the price from $US5million (FJ$10.8million).

“The area was zoned for special tourism use with a retirement village plan,” she said yesterday.

Takalana Bay Resort accommodates 14 people, and has a decking view alongside a restaurant.

Ms Singh said she received an influx of interest over the sale since the advertisement was published.

Resort manager Josefa Bau confirmed the sale.

He said the resort continued to operate with an influx of guests.
